If You’re Still Tired After You Sleep… · The Sound Alchemist · Issue No. 13
THE SOUND ALCHEMIST · ISSUE NO. 13 · SCORPIO NEW MOON · NOVEMBER 9, 2026
Your body cannot be talked into rest. It can only be offered enough safety to let go. A Scorpio new moon letter, with a guided sound meditation for deep rest, yours to keep.
✦
Beautiful spirit,
The moon goes dark in the sign of Scorpio, the deepest water of the zodiac, where everything we’ve kept beneath the surface waits quietly for our attention. ✨
This moon, I’ve brought the sound bath to you. Waiting for you in this letter is a gift I made with love: a sound meditation for deep rest, with my voice guiding you, yours to keep and come back to whenever you need it.
The Gift of the Scorpio New Moon
A new moon is the darkest night of the month, and Scorpio asks us to go even deeper. This is the moon of what lives beneath: the feelings we’ve tucked away so we could keep going, the tiredness we’ve talked ourselves out of, the grief we carry quietly in our bodies. Scorpio is the sign of transformation, and transformation always begins in the dark, the way a seed breaks open underground long before anything green reaches the light. 🌿
This moon doesn’t ask you to do more. It asks you to rest deeply enough that something new can begin.
Why Rest Is So Hard to Find
So many of us were taught that rest has to be earned. We push through the day, collapse at night, and wake up still tired, because the body never truly let go. You might recognize it:
✨lying down, and feeling your mind begin its list of everything left undone
✨shoulders that stay lifted, even in sleep
✨a heaviness in your chest you’ve stopped noticing, because it’s been there so long
✨a quiet fear that if you stop, everything you’ve been holding will come rushing up
And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that weight has to stay with you forever.
What Dr. Stephen Porges Teaches
Neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges, who developed Polyvagal Theory, describes a process he calls neuroception. Beneath your awareness, your nervous system is always scanning your body and your surroundings for cues of safety or danger. When it senses danger, it keeps you braced and alert, no matter how tired you are. When it detects safety, it shifts into the state where your body can rest, digest and repair. Among the cues it listens for are warm, slow, melodic sounds, like the sound of a loving voice soothing someone it cares for.
Your body cannot be talked into rest. It can only be offered enough safety to let go.
This is exactly what soothing, warm, gentle sound can offer you. A single sustained tone can invite presence and get the mind to shift into softness. As more bowls join in harmony, their layers ebb into your consciousness again and again. The vibration washes through you and the little hairs on your skin begin to tingle. Your breath slows on its own, your defenses begin to soften, and your body finally stops bracing for the next thing and surrenders to the softness. 🕊

🌑 A Scorpio New Moon Ritual for Deep Rest
Do this on the evening of a Scorpio new moon, or any evening in the three days that follow.
🌙Gather: headphones, a soft blanket, an eye pillow or scarf, and your journal.
🌙Prepare your space: dim the lights, silence your phone, and lie down somewhere you can stay for 30 minutes.
🌙Write your intention at the top of a journal page: “Tonight I let myself be held, and I release what I no longer need to carry.”
🌙Breathe: in for 4, hold for 1, out for 6. Repeat five times, letting each exhale grow a little longer and softer.
🌙Listen: press play on your Deep Rest Sound Meditation and let the bowls and my voice guide you. If you drift into sleep, that’s okay.
🌙Reflect: when the last tone fades, stay still for a few breaths. Then write: What did my body let go of tonight, and what wants to begin in the space it left?
A Note for Practitioners
Every letter carries one more piece that does not travel here — a facilitator’s note on the craft beneath the practice. How the sound is built. Why it settles where it settles. What to listen for when you are the one holding the room.
It goes only to the people who receive The Sound Alchemist in their inbox.
And if the craft of shaping a sound journey is calling you in earnest, that is the heart of what I teach in the Level 1 certification.
Carrying This Forward
Over the next two weeks, as the moon grows toward its fullness in Gemini, I encourage you to return to your meditation whenever you notice the bracing come back: before sleep, after a hard conversation, or on a heavy Sunday afternoon. Each time you let your body rest, you teach it that it’s safe to let go. Those moments of softness build on one another, until rest is no longer something you have to earn but a home you can return to. 🤍
Where to Find Me in Sound
New moon and full moon sound baths, multi-practitioner sound baths, and world medicine music sound journey concerts are ongoing throughout the year in the Sarasota and Lakewood Ranch area.

Wherever this finds you, beautiful spirit, may you let yourself be held, and find your way home to the love in your own heart. 🙏🏾
The next letter arrives near the Gemini Full Moon. Until then, may the sound find you where you are.
May you walk in peace & lightness,

COMMON QUESTIONS
Why is it so hard to truly rest?
Polyvagal Theory, developed by neuroscientist Stephen Porges, describes neuroception: the nervous system constantly scans for cues of safety or danger beneath our awareness. When it senses danger, it keeps the body braced and alert, however tired we are. Rest comes when the nervous system detects enough safety to let go.
How can sound help the body rest?
Warm, slow, melodic sounds are among the cues of safety the nervous system listens for. Crystal singing bowls played in harmony, with a gentle guiding voice, invite the mind to soften and give the body the safety it needs to stop bracing and rest.
How do I use a sound meditation for deep rest?
Find a place to lie down for about 30 minutes, dim the lights, and silence your phone. Breathe in for 4, hold for 1 and out for 6 a few times, then press play and let the sound guide you. If you drift into sleep, that is okay.
