THE SOUND ALCHEMIST · ISSUE NO. 4 · CAPRICORN FULL MOON · JUNE 26, 2026

A sound bath helps you put down what you have been carrying by speaking to the body first — low, grounding tones tell the nervous system it is safe to soften long before the striving mind agrees. The Capricorn full moon finds the tired that sleep cannot mend, and a simple full moon release ritual helps you set the weight down.

Beautiful spirit,

This week, the moon rounds toward full in Capricorn — exact on Monday, the 29th — and it tends to find a particular kind of tired in us. Not the tired that sleep can mend. The tired of the one who holds things up. 🌕

You may know the feeling. You are the one others lean on — the one who remembers, who arranges, who carries the plan in your body so no one else has to. You have built something, stone by patient stone: a home, a practice, a family, a life. And somewhere along the way, holding it all became so constant that you stopped noticing you were doing it at all.

What the Capricorn moon comes to illuminate

Capricorn is the mountain — earth and structure, the long climb, the quiet mastery of building something that lasts. 🌿 When the full moon rises here, it sends light all the way up the slope you have been climbing. It shows you how far you have come. And in that same light, it shows you the weight on your shoulders — including the part of the load that was never yours to carry.

You were never meant to carry it all alone. You simply forgot you were allowed to set it down.

The body of the over-responsible one learns to brace. The shoulders lift a little. The breath goes shallow and high. There is a low, constant hum of not yet — not until it is done. And because the list is never quite finished, the full exhale never quite comes.

Why rest doesn’t land on its own

The neuropsychologist Dr. Rick Hanson describes a quirk in the human brain: we are, in his words, “Velcro for negative experiences and Teflon for positive ones.” We evolved to fixate on the next threat and the next unfinished task — and to let ease and accomplishment slide right off. So when the work is finally done, the striving mind does not simply soften. It scans for the next mountain.

His remedy is deceptively simple: we have to deliberately let the good land. To pause when something is complete and actually take it in — to let the nervous system register, even for a few breaths, this is enough; I am safe; I can rest here. Left to itself, the mind will not offer this. It has to be invited.

Rest is not the reward you earn at the end. It is the ground you build everything else upon.

If you have been holding a great deal, your body may already be telling you:

Your shoulders and jaw stay tight even in quiet moments

You feel quietly responsible for how everyone around you is doing

Stillness makes you restless, as though resting were something to feel guilty about

You can name what everyone else needs, but go blank when asked what you need

This is where sound becomes such a tender ally. The thinking mind cannot be argued out of its vigilance — but the body can be reached underneath it. Low, grounding tones — the deep bowls, the earth-register drones — offer the nervous system something it trusts: slow, steady, resonant safety. The body hears you can let go now long before the mind would ever agree to it.

The body will not release what the mind insists on guarding. Sound speaks to the body first.

🌙 A ritual for setting down the weight

On the night of the full moon — Monday, June 29 — or any evening within a few days of it, give yourself twenty unhurried minutes. This is a practice of putting down, not taking on. You will want a quiet place to lie down, something warm over you, and a low, grounding sound: a deep singing bowl, an earth-register drone, or a recording of one. Dim the light.

🌙Lie down and let the floor take your weight. Feel where your body meets the ground. Let the earth hold what you have been holding. Begin the sound, low and steady.

🌙Breathe to release. In through the nose for a count of four. Pause for one. Then a long, slow exhale for a count of six — the longer out-breath is what tells the body it is safe to soften. Repeat for six rounds, letting each exhale be a small setting-down.

🌙Name what you are carrying. Silently, let one weight rise into awareness — a worry, a role, a responsibility. Do not push it away. Simply notice its shape, and how much of you it has been asking for.

🌙Ask the quiet question: Is this mine to carry right now? If it is, let the sound hold it with you for these few minutes. If it is not, picture setting it down on the ground beside you. The earth can hold it for a while.

🌙Let the good land. Before you rise, bring to mind one thing you have built or tended that you are quietly proud of. Stay with it for several breaths. Let yourself actually feel it — this is the part the striving mind would skip.

I honor all I have built, and I lay down what was never mine to carry.

Afterward, if you would like to write: What have I been holding that I am allowed to set down — and who might help me carry the rest?

For the facilitators reading — the art of the closing

If you guide others through sound, you may already sense this in your own way — but it bears naming. We pour so much care into how a sound bath begins, and into holding the deep middle, that the ending can quietly become an afterthought: a few words, the lights up, “take your time getting up.” Yet the close is not the end of the work. It is where the work gets integrated — where a person gathers what moved in them and decides, often without words, how much of it they get to keep.

When we bring people back too quickly, the nervous system startles — and the very release we spent an hour cultivating can clench back up right at the door. The return deserves as much artistry as the descent.

How you end the journey is how they carry it home.

Try this in your next session: as you bring the sound to its close, do not rush the silence. Let the final resonance fully complete, then leave a long, held quiet — longer than you usually do— before you speak. When you do speak, lower and slow your voice rather than brightening it; you are a bridge back, not an alarm clock. Invite small, grounding movement first — a deeper breath, a wiggle of fingers and toes — before anything larger. Then offer one simple line of integration: an invitation to silently name one thing they are taking with them. You are teaching the body that it is safe to come back slowly, and that what surfaced is theirs to keep. The closing is where the medicine is sealed.

Carrying it forward

If you take one thing from this letter, let it be this: the mountain will still be there tomorrow. You are allowed to stop climbing long enough to feel the ground beneath you. Over these next two weeks, as the moon wanes, let each evening offer one small setting-down — one exhale a little longer than the one before. 🌿

A little of what I am building

There is something close to my heart I want to share with you. The Sound Alchemy Method Level 1 — the CSB Practitioner Certification is open. ✨ It is the training I have poured my whole life as a musician and facilitator into: a step-by-step, genuinely accessible path into guiding sound baths with real depth. Together we move through the neuroscience and the spirituality of sound, the art of holding space, and the art of composing on crystal bowls — true musical fluency made reachable even for a complete beginner, through ear-training tools, workbooks, guided practice, personal feedback on your homework, monthly group coaching, and one-on-one time as you shape and complete your very own sound bath. If something in you has been quietly called toward this work, come read more about the program — I would love to tell you more. 🌙

And if you are a soul gathering your first crystal singing bowls — or thinking of adding to a set you already love — I made The Harmonic Blueprint for exactly that tender, important moment. It walks you, step by step, through choosing bowls that truly harmonize, so your set sings together from the very first note and you can invest with real confidence rather than guesswork. 🤍

And for the few who feel called to go deeper still — I offer my Advanced Skills Mentorship, a more intensive one-on-one container for the souls ready for that kind of work. If that is you, you will feel it. 🌌

Wherever this letter finds you — mid-climb, or finally resting at a small summit — I hope you let yourself set something down this week. You have carried enough, and you have built more beauty than the striving mind will ever pause to admit. 🤍

The next letter arrives near the Cancer New Moon in mid-July. Until then — may the sound find you where you are.

May you walk in peace & lightness,

COMMON QUESTIONS

Can a sound bath help with stress and burnout?

Yes — especially the kind of stress that comes from holding everything up. The thinking mind cannot be argued out of its vigilance, but the body can be reached underneath it. Low, grounding tones offer something the body trusts: slow, steady, resonant safety. Lying in that resonance, many people feel the shoulders and jaw let go before the mind has agreed to stop working.

What do you do when you feel like you are carrying too much?

Name one weight and ask a quiet question: is this mine to carry right now? If it is, let a low, steady sound hold it with you. If it is not, set it down on the ground beside you. Lengthen your exhale — six counts out, four in. Then, before you rise, let one thing you have built actually land.

What does the Capricorn full moon ask of you?

It asks you to see the whole climb — how far you have come, and the weight still on your shoulders, including the part that was never yours to carry. Capricorn is the mountain: earth, structure, patient building. The full moon sends light all the way up the slope, so you can honor what you have built and set down the rest.
